KENT, Charles
In memory of Lieutenant Charles Kent R.N.
H.M.S. Dauntless, only brother of the Reverend
Francis Kent, Incumbent of this District, who
in the discharge of duty and in the exercise of faith
and hope, was called suddenly to his eternal rest.
He died at Barbados of yellow fever, the second day of
December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and fifty two, aged twenty eight years, and with
fourteen brother officers, victims of the same deadly disease,
was interred in the burial ground of the Church of S. Matthew
in the island.
This Tablet is erected by one left to mourn the untimely
loss of a most noble heart.
"Even so Father: for so it seemed good in Thy sight" Matthew 11:26

Monumental Inscriptions: Tombstones of the Island of Barbados By Vere Langford Oliver, (reprint published by Wildside Press LLC, 1 Sep 2007) gives a list of those officers who died, and who are named on a tomb in the church
