Search the IWFHS Churches, Chapels and Cemeteries

This page provides search facilities of the IWFHS Churches, Chapels and Cemeteries database which includes those which exist, or have existed over the years, on the Isle of Wight. As well as giving the location of each, the index also provides an indication of its current status and location of and/or links to possible family history research resources. See notes below.

Information is presented in good faith. Users of this database should be aware that there may be errors in transcription and original sources should be used to cross check if possible - see details of some sources used. Please send any corrections or information to Antony Barton Click for email address - please help where dates have question marks, they are 'educated estimates', if you know better, please advise.

Source information:

Although there is a great deal of local work going on to record this information, there is perhaps no overall picture of which records have been transcribed, nor which monumental inscriptions have been recorded. The Society would be pleased to receive information about any further publications or websites which cover any of the gaps in the table below. Thanks also to those individuals and organisations who have provided information to date, including Pat Phillips (Arreton records and Chapels), Janet Griffin; and Alan Kimber for many of the photographs.
